Speaker bio: Alain is an Advisor with the Community Engagement team at GS1 Canada. This new division was created in early 2022 with the main objective of supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs get their products to market quickly and efficiently. Part of his mandate is to work closely with Trade Associations and Educational Institutions alike. The goal being to support, educate and familiarize their members with GS1 Global Standards emphasizing the importance of minimizing start up and scale up hurdles along the way. As a previous business owner in Wholesale Packaging & Distribution, he truly enjoys sharing his experience and building relationships which bodes well in this role.
Summary:
Barcodes and Beyond
Barcodes are everywhere - from the food we buy, to the clothes we wear. This session will demystify barcodes by explaining why unique product identification is key in getting your products to market quickly and efficiently. Whether you are selling your product on a website, through a retailer or an online marketplace, proper identification and relevant quality data is key. Having an authentic barcode and necessary resources will help you navigate regulatory and trading requirements while ensuring you are in conformity with trading partners.  We will also dive into business and sector specific requirements and review Health Canada packaging/labelling regulations.

Registration Rates*:
$10 for BCFPA Members
$5 for BCFPA students/retired
$15 for Non-Members
Rates will increase by $5 after July 23rd.
